The student team of IUT won the second place of the 11th International University Physics Competition. 346 teams from universities around the world took part in the competition, which was held online on November 6, 2020 in the United States. According to the results of this competition, which was published on January 18, 2021, the team of Isfahan University of Technology, consisted of Mr. Sina Etebar, Nima Hamed and Ms. Haniye Karimi, undergraduate students under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Soroush Shakeri, a member of the Department of Physics, competed with other teams from different countries of the world.
Regarding the method of holding this competition, Prof. Dr. Shakeri, said that by designing two physics research problems at a specific time of November 6 and for 48 hours, a research paper should be conducted with all necessary standards on one of the problems. He also added that for the evaluation of the competition, 2% of the total participants were given the gold medal, about 15 to 20% were given silver medal, about 25 to 30% won the bronze medal, and about 50 to 60% successful completed the competition.
The Department of Physics of IUT won the first silver medal after the gold medals of the competition.
This competition has been held every year among undergraduate students since 2010.
