According to the ISC World Ranking 2020, Isfahan University of Technology is ranked first among technological universities and the third top university in Iran among the top 46 universities in the country.

In this ranking, which includes 2,182 universities from 102 countries and 6 continents, 46 Iranian universities are ranked.

According to this ranking, 24 Iranian universities including Tehran, Tarbiat Modares, Ferdowsi Mashhad, Shahid Beheshti, Shiraz, Tabriz, Isfahan, Yazd, Kashan, Gilan, Bu Ali Sina, Razi, Semnan, Shahid Bahonar Kerman, Kurdistan, Mazandaran, Shahid Chamran Ahvaz, Mohaghegh Ardebili, Urmia, Yasouj, Alzahra, Imam Khomeini International, Shahed, and Shahrekord Universities are present in this ranking.

Nine technological universities, including Isfahan University of Technology, Sharif University of Technology, Amirkabir University of Technology, Iran Science and Technology, K. N. Toosi University, Noshirvani Babol, Shahroud University of Technology, Sahand University of Technology and Shiraz University of Technology are in the ISC World Ranking 2020.

13 Universities of Medical Sciences including Tehran, Shahid Beheshti, Iran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Tabriz, Shiraz, Jundishapur Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Baqiyatallah, Kerman, Mazandaran, and Zahedan Universities are in this ranking.

According to this ranking, Isfahan University of Technology, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, and Sharif University of Technology are in the third place.

In order to rank the world's universities, Islamic World Science Citation Database (ISC) applies the most important missions of universities which are research (with a weight of 60%), innovation (with a weight of 15%), education (with a weight of 10%) and international activities (with a weight of 15%).

The difference between the 2020 ranking of this institute and previous years is the calculation of the number of disqualified articles (Retractions) of universities with a negative score, which is presented in an index called Neg Rep.

According to the ISC report, universities that have registered at least 850 documents in 2016-2018 in the Web of Science database have been examined and the information of this ranking has been extracted from USPTO, WoS, and Incite databases.
