Iran-Iraq Science Week 2025: 13 MOUs have been signed between Isfahan University of Technology and the Iraqi partners

On January 21, 2025, during the Iran-Iraq Science Week event, which was held at Al-Zahra University in the holy city of Karbala to strengthen scientific and research cooperation between the two countries, memorandums of understanding on scientific cooperation were signed between Isfahan University of Technology and 13 universities in Iraq.

According to the Public Relations Department of Isfahan University of Technology, in addition to signing the memorandum of understanding with Iraqi universities, in joint meetings between the Vice President of Education of the university and some of the deans of Iraqi universities, while introducing Isfahan University of Technology, emphasis was placed on developing international scientific cooperation, including conducting joint research, holding short-term training courses, student exchange, participating in international conferences in the two countries, and creating the possibility of faculty members from Iraqi universities attending as study opportunities at Isfahan University of Technology. The universities of Kufa, Karbala, Mosul, Mostaqbal, Al-Hadba, Diyala, Maysan, Nineavah, and the North Technical University (Mosul), South Technical University (Basra), Middle Technical University (Furat Al-Awsat), Middle Technical University (Baghdad), and the National University of Science and Technology of Iraq are among the universities that are parties to the memorandum of understanding with Isfahan University of Technology. It is worth mentioning that this event was held in the city of Karbala with the presence of Dr. Simaei Saraf, Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Hojjatoleslam Walmuslimin Rostami, Head of the Supreme Leader's Representative Body in Universities, Dr. Habiba, Head of the Student Affairs Organization, Dr. Rezaei Far, Head of the Center for International Scientific Cooperation of the Ministry of Science, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education of Iraq, and many high-ranking representatives of this country, to increase scientific interactions between the two countries. Also, visits to Al-Kafeel University, Al-Ameed University, Waris Al-Anbiya University, and Karbala University were among the other programs of this event.

Experience Exchange Meeting at Isfahan University of Technology:

In line with the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between Iraqi universities and Isfahan University of Technology, a delegation consisting of officials from Iraqi technical universities visited the university, discussed the development of scientific relations, holding joint conferences, and educational exchanges.

During this visit, which was the first time that the faculty of Iraqi universities visited Isfahan University of Technology, the president and vice presidents of Mostaqbal University and the Middle Technical University of Iraq, while participating in a joint meeting with the vice presidents of research and education, international management, and faculty members of the IUT Department of Mechanical Engineering, visited the scientific and research facilities and infrastructure of this university.

Dr. Musab, vice president of education and research at the Middle Technical University of Iraq, referring to the proximity of the academic fields of these universities to Isfahan University of Technology, said: Good negotiations were held to hold joint conferences and exchange professors and students in the field of education and postgraduate courses. He added: The extensive cooperation of Isfahan University of Technology with private and public companies, as well as the existence of large industrial contracts with this university, were among the points of interest to the Iraqi Universities. This visit was carried out within the framework of a memorandum of understanding signed in January 2025 between Iraqi universities and Isfahan University of Technology, and according to Iraqi scientific officials, the scientific city of Isfahan University of Technology was very attractive and inspiring for the visiting delegation.

The visit of Al-Turath University Delegation from Isfahan University of Technology:

On May 20, a delegation from Al-Turath University in Iraq traveled to Iran to visit the Isfahan University of Technology and its facilities, and the parties negotiated about signing a memorandum of understanding for scientific and research cooperation and student exchange.
