
According to the Isfahan University of Technology Public Relations report, quoted by Irandoc, the Times Higher Education Institute has reviewed 81 Iranian institutions in its 2025 edition of Asian universities, which is an improvement of 8 points compared to the previous period of this ranking.
Based on this ranking, Sharif University of Technology is ranked first in the country and 69th in Asia with a score of 58.8, and Isfahan University of Technology is ranked sixth in Iran and 115th in Asia with a score of 51.9, after this university and Amirkabir University, Iran University of Science and Technology, Tehran University, and Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
In the previous Asian ranking of this institution, Isfahan University of Technology was ranked 9th in the country and 133rd in Asia, which indicates a 3-step increase in the university's ranking in Iran and 18 steps in Asia.
This ranking system uses 18 balanced performance indicators that provide a comprehensive comparison for students, researchers, university administrators, industry, and governments.
These performance indicators are categorized into five areas: education with a weight of 5.24 percent, research environment with a weight of 28 percent, research quality with a weight of 30 percent, global outlook with a weight of 5.7 percent, and interaction with industry (revenues and inventions) with a weight of 10 percent.
The ranking is also based on a survey of teaching and research reputation, the number of students and faculty, income, publication data (from 2019 to 2023), citations (from 2019 to 2024), and patents, which are collected from sources such as Scopus, the Times Higher Education Institute's annual survey, global patent offices, and a self-declaration questionnaire from the institution.
In the 2025 edition of the Asian University Rankings, which was published by evaluating 853 universities from 35 countries, China continues to lead with first and second places and five places among the top 10 universities, and Iran is ranked fifth in Asia in terms of the number of top institutions in the Asian University Rankings system, after Turkey.
