the Iranian Research Organization for Science and Technology (IROST) organizes the Khwarizmi International Award (KIA) annually. IROST as a leading government research organization, affiliated with the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, consists of seven research departments that conduct applied research in a multitude of fields. IROST focuses on developing and transferring frontier technologies and plays a
significant role in responding to critically important challenges and needs of society.
The KIA was founded in 1987 to acknowledge the efforts made by researchers, innovators, and inventors from across the globe and to appreciate their outstanding research work and contributions to different fields of science and technology. The KIA consists of a trophy, a certificate, and a cash
prize of 20.000 USD for the First Laureate, 15.000 USD for the Second Laureate, and 10.000 USD for the Third Laureate. It should be noted that the!ROST will cover all travel expenses for the 38th KIA laureates to participate in the award ceremony.
