The closing ceremony of the sixth environmental award for students of the country's universities on the occasion of Earth Day was hosted by the Department of Natural Resources Engineering in Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) and attended by the head of Isfahan Environmental Organization and Vice-president for Research and Technology of Isfahan University of Technology. In the event, 10 titles of student scientific achievements about the environment were appreciated and the meritorious position of the best dissertation was awarded to Alireza Kavoei, a student of Isfahan University of Technology, researching "Processability, fabrication, and characterization of synthetic nanocomposite polymer papers made from recycled polymers and minerals”.
The award of the best startup ideas was presented to Fereshteh Kiani Nejad, a student of IUT, as an active student in the field of the environment; Aref Abedini from the ACECR of IUT for presenting a study on “feasibility for the construction of a flare gas recovery unit at Isfahan Oil Refinery”; and Mojgan Hosseini, an IUT student, for presenting a study on “the application of the combined method of artificial wetland and zeolite-reinforced polyamide nanofiber membranes in the treatment of industrial effluents in a refinery”.
IUT Vice-president for Research and Technology, Prof. Hamidreza Safavi, stated that it will be remarkable to hold the Environment Award for Students internationally next year. He also added: "Students' professional activities regarding the environment are valuable and we hope that the winners of this festival will be effective members of knowledge-based companies and resolve the problems of the industry with the support of Isfahan Science & Technology Town."
This event has been organized for the last six consecutive years by the Department of Natural Resources Engineering of IUT with the support and presence of environmental managers, Isfahan Oil Refinery Company, Mobarakeh Steel Company, and the Vice-presidency for Support and Technology of Isfahan Science & Technology Town.
