During a joint meeting with participation of Prof. Mahmood Modarres Hashemi, the president of IUT, Prof. Blanca Jimenez Cisneros, Director of the Division of Water Sciences UNESCO, Dr. Ali Chavoshian, the Director of the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM), the managing directors of Isfahan Water Resources Management Company, Dr. Mahdi Abtahi, IUT Vice President for Research and Technology, Prof. Mahboobi Soofiani the director of IUT International Office and other IUT faculty members and officials, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between IUT and the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM), on December 6, 2016.
During this meeting, the participants had discussion about the current challenges and issues against Isfahan’s water industry.
Based on the signed MOU between IUT and RCUWM, the both parties agreed on expanding their mutual collaboration on research and development in the fields of water and wastewater industry and developing effective communication with national and international scientific communities in order to facilitate the presentation of Islamic Republic of Iran experiments in the field of water management in these communities.
The parties also agreed on collaboration for convening seminars and conferences and scientific workshops at the national, regional and international level as well as carrying out research projects on related fields and providing sabbatical opportunities for IUT PhD students at the UNESCO scientific centers.
It is noteworthy to say that the Regional Centre on Urban Water Management (RCUWM), under the auspices of UNESCO, was officially inaugurated in 2002, with the aim of transferring applicable scientific and experimental knowledge and to increase know-how and capacities in all cases and dimensions of Urban Water Management (UWM) in order to promote sustainable development and to undertake relevant activities to enhance human welfare within the region states.
