According to the Plan of Developing the Five Top Iranian Universities into International Level, IUT is ranked first in the two indices of the frequently cited papers of the faculty members, and the sabbatical leaves per capita. As for the ratio of the citations for the published papers, IUT is ranked second and for the index of spin-offs it is ranked third.

Five technological universities in Iran have formed a collaboration network, among which IUT is one of the collaborators. Having the purpose of internationalizing the Universities in focus, this network has aims at other factors such as increasing the integration and collaboration of these universities in developing educational and research programs as well as strengthening the scientific diplomacy and macro programs of the MSRT in the organization plan in higher education.

The results of the joint research program between the Vice President of Science and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China were announced.

With the announcement of the final results of the joint research program between the Vice-presidency  for Science and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, 5 joint research programs were sponsored among which a project conducted by Prof. Dr. Mohammadreza Toroghinejad from the Faculty of Materials Engineering at IUT has been selected.

In its fourth year of activity in supporting joint research programs between the Iranian researchers and Chinese Academy of Sciences, Iran National Science Foundation (INSF) has reported that Silk Road Science Fund (SRSF) has sponsored two research projects from Isfahan University of Technology which fall within the two fields of ‘Advanced Materials’ and ‘Water Science’. In the field of Water Sciences, the joint researchers are Prof. Dr. Nasrollah Mahboubi Soofiani, Prof. Dr. Jahangir Abedi, Prof. Dr. Sima Fakheran, Prof. Dr. Reza Modares.

The IUT International Collaboration Center was the host of Dr. Ahmad Keshavarzi - the head of DAAD office in Tehran. In this conference, strategies and policies on more connection and collaboration between IUT and DAAD were negotiated.

This conference was held with presence of a group of the faculty members and students of IUT as well as some other representatives from other universities in Isfahan.

This meeting was headed by Prof. Dr. Omidi, the Acting President for International Affairs and Development of Technology Infrastructures, and Director of the IUT International Center, Prof. Dr. Sima Fakheran, with presence of 12 professors as coordinators of the faculties who are in the driving seat of the internationalization of the faculties, and the staff of the IUT International Center.

The IUT president announced that this university is the first Iranian university that became a CMS member of the prestigious institute of CERN (The European Organization for Nuclear Research). Stating that Iran has been only connected to CERN through "the Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences (IPM)", Prof. Dr. Abtahi added that the Faculty of Physics at IUT is the first faculty out of Tehran that sent students to CERN in the field of Fundamental Particle Physics for scientific cooperation.
